What's Doing....

I apologize for the lack of updates. Things have been very crazy for me lately - business and personal. The company i work for just fired 20% of the IT department... i got to stay, so i am trying to be good for a little while. None the less, i have made very good progress on the new server setup. Here's what's done:

Open/Close times are set for each hour of each day of the week. So you can select to offer access between 9am-11am and then from 2pm to 5pm one day then maybe 9am to 5pm another. You define each hour for each day.

Usage Limits are now text fields, not drop lists. You can assign a class or user any time or d/l limit. eg 3 hours a day, or 4 days a week, or 10 days a month. You can do the same for dl limits but it can be MB or GB for a day, week, or month time period.

User Management is greatly improved with user searching and listing of all users. I also improved the way users are assigned classes. Users are now properly associated with a single zone in a group. so when the user has a custom setting outside of the class settings it only applies while in the one zone, not others. Also if you change the class limits all users in the class will have the new limit. add_user.png

A Ticket system is now available if you choose to use... this feature is enabled by not requiring a password in the config options. The system will generate X amount of users the same way you register any other... you can define class, or custom settings and a start and expire date (you can create them in advance). The tickets display your hotspot name, whatever you enter in the descption field, the valid date(s) and the login id. display_ticket_logins.png

Unauthenticated access is now defined via the control server

Block access to the LAN can now have a list of allowed servers and ports to open on the LAN.

Reporting now includes content filter blocks, and is improved to accuratley save ALL blocks... even login failures. Many more report options available. plus graphs. limit_block_report.png

You can define a printer ip to allow access

You can define a proxy ip and port

Still lots more to do.... I should have some source code in CVS by next week. I have targeted June 1 for the server to be ready.
